Ministry of EMR Donates Disinfection Chambers to Wisma Atlet Emergency Hospital, RSUI, and RSPP
Ministry of EMR through the Energy and Mineral Resources Research and Development Agency donated medical support in the form of Body Disinfection Chambers (BiSA) to Wisma Atlet COVID-19 Emergency Hospital in Jakarta (16/4).
Head of Center for Research and Development of Electricity, New, Renewable Energy, and Energy Conservation Technologies (P3TKEBTKE), Chrisnawan Anditya, handed over one unit of BiSA to Project Management Office (PMO) of Wisma Atlet Emergency Hospital SOE, Tonggo Marbun.
Previously, the EMR R&D Agency donated a unit of BiSA to the Faculty of Medicine of Universitas Indonesia (FKUI) in Depok on 14 April 2020, and the chamber was placed at the university's Medical Hospital (RSUI).
Another BiSA unit was donated to kepada Rumah Sakit Pusat Pertamina (RSPP) on 29 March 2020 in Jakarta. Head of EMR R&D Agency witnessed the equipment handover from Head of P3TKEBTKE to RSPP Deputy Director of Medical Support, Ahmad Zulkifi.
Chrisnawan explains BiSA can be used to sterilize medical workers who care for patients diagnosed positive for Covid-19, especially at referral hospitals.
"The daily operations of these hospitals involve about 400 medical workers, from doctors, nurses, and other supporting teams", said Chrisnawan.
Chrisnawan adds the chambers were made according to the Minister of EMR's instruction, directing the EMR R&D Agency to contribute to the making of body sterilization equipment to prevent the spread of Corona virus.
BiSA was developed by P3TKEBTKE. BiSA consists of two rooms, namely antiseptic and sterilization rooms. The antiseptic room uses a four-sided spraying system, each is made up of four nozzles. Spraying lasts for 13 seconds, with 20-second waiting time and 10-second rinse time. The sterilization room is used for drying, with a temperature of 56oC and drying time 30 seconds.
The chamber uses an antiseptic solution Sodium Hypochlorite NaOCL 0.1%. The solution content is below the threshold allowed by World Health Organization (WHO) at 0.5 percent. Effectiveness tests have shown 0.1 percent Sodium Hypochlorite NaOCL solution is more optimum, because it can prevent microorganism growth by 33-96 percent.
BiSA was tested and consulted with the supervision team from the Health R&D Agency on 26 March 2020. The supervision team is led by Head of Center for Health Resources and Services R&D, Irmansyah, and consists of experts from clinical cross-fields, namely microbiology, pharmacy, clinical pathology, and disease control.
