Installing Head of BPMA, Minister Arifin Gives Instructions

Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources (EMR) Arifin Tasrif installs Teuku Mohamad Faisal as Head of Aceh Upstream Oil and Gas Management Agency (BPMA) at the office of Ministry of EMR, Monday (25/11). The installation is witnessed by Acting Governor of Aceh Nova Iriansyah, Secretary General of Ministry of EMR Ego Syahrial, and Head of Special Task Force for Upstream Oil and Gas Business Activities (SKK Migas) Dwi Sutjipto.

Arifin hopes the new Head of BPMA can implement the mandate of Government Regulation Number 23 of 2015 on Joint Management of Oil and Gas Resources in Aceh.

"I instruct you to manage the oil and gas resources in Aceh as much as possible while bringing benefits and improving the welfare of Aceh people," directed Arifin.

To maintain stable production and operation as well as PSC activity plans in Aceh, Arifin orders Head of BPMA to coordinate with the relevant stakeholders, especially during the transition period of PSC management in Aceh.

"There are still a number of oil and gas reserves where we can carry out exploration activities in the future. I expect you to improve the coordination between the National Government and the Regional Government, and with the relevant stakeholders to better the oil and gas governance in Aceh," he said.

There are currently several upstream oil and gas activities in Aceh Province, for example, 6 exploitation blocks, namely Andaman III, South Blok A, East Seruway, Lhokseumawe, and W. Glagah Kambuna; 5 exploration blocks, namely Area A North Sumatera, Krueng Mane, North Sumatera B Block, NSO, Pase, and Pertamina EP; one termination block, Seruway, managed by SEOL.

To give continuous benefits to the Aceh people, the government has also increased gas usage in Aceh. According to the performance report of Directorate General of Oil and Gas of 2018, there are 9,925 House Connections (SR) to the gas networks in Aceh. Meanwhile, about 77.3% share of gas is absorbed by industry, especially by PT Iskandar Muda.

At the end of his speech, Arifin requests Head of BPMA to carry out his new duty in a Fast, Fastidious, and Professional manner. "I congratulate you on your new assignment. I hope you will carry out this duty as best as possible," concluded Arifin. (IY)
