D-7 of Eid, Electricity Supply is Safe

Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (EMR) ensures that electricity supply is safe one week before Eid al-Fitr 2020. According to data from the National Command Post of the EMR Sector (Posko) of 17 May 2020 for daytime peak load, the entire electricity system is in safe condition. Overall, the national net capacity is 44,273.21 MW and peak load 26,649.98 MW so that there is a reserve margin of 17,623.23 MW.

The electricity supply of PT PLN (Persero) business area as per 17 May 2020 at 08.00 pm Western Indonesian Time (WIB) showed that 22 electricity systems are in normal condition (enough reserve margin). No electricity system is in critical and deficit condition.

The electricity supply of non-PLN business areas are also reported to be safe. The total net capacity of 12 business area holders who submit data is 2,568.33 MW, with peak load 1,201.09 MW, and a reserve margin 1,367.24 MW or 113.83%.

The National Posko for Eid al-Fitr 2020 is monitored virtually on a daily basis from Sunday (17 May 2020) until Monday (1 June 2020). Previously on Friday (15 May 2020), Secretary of DG of Electricity, Munir Ahmad, informed that the Posko virtual reports by the duty officers include information about net capacity, peak load, and reserve margin of both PLN and non-PLN business areas. The Posko operates in two shifts, namely shift 1 (10.00 am-03.00 pm WIB) and shift 2 (03.00 pm-08.00 pm WIB).

"Coordination between duty officers is made virtually via online meeting application, twice a day," said Munir.

The readiness of electricity supply ahead of, during, and after Eid is continuously monitored by DG Electricity and PLN. The monitoring is expected to ensure that electricity supply is enough across Indonesia so that this year's Eid runs smoothly. (IY)
