Ministry of EMR Gives Protective Equipment Assistance

The COVID-19 Handling Acceleration Task Force of Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (EMR) on this Thursday (23/7), give personal protective equipment assistance to community representatives from Manggarai, West Manggarai, and East Manggarai Regencies of East Nusa Tenggara Province. The assistance was given in person by Chief of the COVID-19 Task Force Endang Sutisna to community leaders of Manggarai Raya on behalf of the three regency governments.

"Since March, the COVID-19 Task Force of Ministry of EMR has given personal protective equipment assistance to all provincial governments in Java and Bali Islands, and to the Provincial Government of South Sulawesi. On this occasion, Alhamdulillah, praise be to God, we can give the same assistance to Regency Governments of Manggarai, West Manggarai, and East Manggarai," said Endang.

Endang explained the assistance is made up of 3,000 cloth masks, 1,500 medical masks, 1,099 hazmat suits, 300 face shields, 100 N95 masks, 100 pairs of protective glasses, and 19 boxes of hand gloves.

"What we give to you here is a contribution from the stakeholders of the EMR sector which is coordinated by Ministry of EMR to be handed out to communities," continued Endang.

The COVID-19 Task Force of Ministry of EMR has provided personal protective equipment assistance for the handling of the Covid-19 pandemic to community health centers (Puskesmas), hospitals, and provincial and regency governments since March. The protective equipment is both the product of the Ministry and aid from stakeholders of the EMR sector.

Meanwhile, Executive Director of Indonesian Coal Mining Association (ICMA) Hendra Sinadia said that today's assistance is a contribution from coal companies and meant to support the government and the communities.

"Today is an important day for us, because today we contribute to the handling of COVID-19 in Indonesia. This assistance is a contribution from coal companies; this is our effort to support the government and the communities in handling the COVID-19 pandemic, and thus, it's an honor for us," said Hendra.

The personal protective equipment will be distributed to each regency with the following details: Manggarai Regency: 1,000 cloth masks, 500 medical masks, 366 hazmat suits, 100 face shields, 33 pairs of protective glasses, 33 N95 masks, 7 boxes of hand gloves.

For West Manggarai Regency: 1,000 cloth masks, 500 medical masks, 367 hazmat suits, 100 face shields, 34 N95 masks, 33 pairs of protective glasses, and 6 boxes of hand gloves.

For East Manggarai Regency: 1,000 cloth masks, 500 medical masks, 366 hazmat suits, 100 face shields, 34 pairs of protective glasses, 33 N95 masks, 6 boxes of hand gloves.

One of the community leaders who represented the beneficiaries, Gaudensius Suhardi, expressed his gratitude for the equipment assistance given to the three regency governments and wished there would be more assistance for Manggarai people.

"Today we're witnessing your kindness, honorable Ladies and Gentlemen; I pray to God that He will multiply His blessings for you for the good deeds you've done, and that we, the Manggarai people, will always be willing to channel your charity," said Gaudensius Suhardi.

Ministry of EMR through its EMR Research and Development Agency (Balitbang ESDM) has also given medical support equipment, namely Disinfectant Body Chamber (BiSA), to four hospitals that care for Covid-19 patients, namely Pertamina Central Hospital (RSPP), University Hospital of Universitas Indonesia (RSUI), Emergency Hospital (RSD) Athlete Village, and Central Army Hospital (RSPAD) Gatot Subroto.

Additionally, Balitbang ESDM has also made a number of innovations, among others, powered emergency resuscitator that passed the test by Jakarta Health Facility Security Office (BPFK) on 18 May 2020. The performance of this COVID-19 ventilator named ViCE Z-Axis is compliant with the requirements for Emergency Resuscitator Product Testing Method of BPFK Jakarta Number MK-UPK/BPFKJ/61/RS/0.

ViCE Z-Axis is a respiratory aid needed by Covid-19 patients who generally experience difficulty breathing during critical period.

The COVID-19 Handling Acceleration Task Force of Ministry of EMR was formed by Minister of EMR Arifin Tasrif in a ministerial decision. The task force consists of employees of Ministry of EMR and Special Task Force for Upstream Oil and Gas (SKK Migas).

The task force has been formed to ensure that fast, fastidious, and integrated efforts between organization units of Ministry of EMR and SKK Migas are carried out with the aim to prevent and fight the Corona Virus Disease 2019 (COVID-19). (IY)
