Indonesia Energy Council Members for 2020-2025 Take Oath of Office

Eight Members of the Indonesia National Energy Council (DEN) for 2020-2025 period were sworn in by Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources (EMR) Arifin Tasrif. The swearing-in ceremony was held by a hybrid method at the office of the Ministry of EMR in Jakarta on Friday (8/1).

Previously, these Members of DEN's Stakeholder part had been selected by the President of the Republic of Indonesia as set out in Presidential Decree Number 135/P of 2020 dated December 30, 2020.

"Congratulations! I hope you will perform this mandate well. You will have to carry out the duties mandated by Law Number 30 of 2007 on Energy, namely to plan and formulate the National Energy Policy (KEN), set the National Energy Master Plan (RUEN), set measures against energy crisis and emergencies as well as supervise cross-sectoral energy policies," said Minister Arifin in his remarks after the new members took oath of office.

Arifin hopes the newly sworn-in members can help accelerate government policies in the energy sector according to their respective background and experience within their five-year term of office. Thus, all parties can immediately carry out the government strategic programs effectively.

The Indonesian Government is preparing a variety of strategies to tackle current challenges, especially those related to increased energy demand when the capacity to supply energy is limited. For this reason, Arifin has requested the new members to use the government strategies to review and evaluate the RUEN because energy and economic indicators have changed, especially after the outbreak of the Covid-19 pandemic.
