Dated: 8th Oktober 2019
In 2019, 22 Bore Wells Built in East Kalimantan
Ministry
of Energy and Mineral Resources (EMR) once again gave away two bore wells to
dry areas in Kutai Kartanegara (Kukar) Regency, East Kalimantan Province, Tuesday
(8/10). The ceremony was attended by Director General of Electricity, Rida
Mulyana, and Assistant III (in charge of General Affairs) of Kukar Regional
Secretariat, Irfan Prananta, representing Kukar Regent, at the bore well
located in Bukit Raya Village, Tenggarong Seberang Subdistrict.
The bore well is a part of the aid program from
the Ministry of EMR in fiscal year 2019. 22 units of deep bore wells have been
planned to be given to East Kalimantan because the province has areas lacking
in clean groundwater.
"In fiscal year 2019, the Ministry of EMR
has set aside a budget to build 650 units of bore wells. In East Kalimantan alone,
there will be 22 units. Kutai Kartanegara Regency will be given 3 units. 2 units
are given today: 1 unit is located in Bukit Raya Village, Tenggarong Seberang Subdistrict
and the other in Giri Agung Village, Sebulu Subdistrict. The remaining one unit
is located in Sambera Baru Vilage, Marang Kayu Subdistrict," Rida
explained.
The bore well of Bukit Raya Village is 125-meter
deep, has an average discharge of 1.69 liter/second, and can supply clean water
to 2,432 people. Between 2011 and 2018, 59 bore well units had been built in
East Kalimantan.
Rida later added that the construction of bore
well in Kutai Kartanegara alone started in 2015, and by the end of 2018, 9 bore
well units had been built. "With a discharge of 479,347 m3 per year, these
9 bore wells can supply water to 21,888 people," said Rida.
Because the bore wells were funded by the state,
Rida requested all people to take care of and maintain the facility. "We
hope the bore well will be used and be taken care of, so it will give huge
benefits by improving the quality of life and the economy of the surrounding
communities," Rida concluded. (NAL)
