Energy Ministry Won Best Management of Corruption Prevention

Out of 87 Indonesian central ministries/agencies, Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (EMR) is one institution that has implemented the Stranas PK very well, said Minister of National Development Planning (PPN)/Head of National Planning Agency (Bappenas), Suharso Monoarfa, when announcing the evaluation on National Strategy for Corruption Prevention (Stranas PK) of 2019-2020.

"I'd like to express my appreciation to three central ministries or agencies which, despite their numerous sub-actions, have shown exceptional performance. They scored more than 80% in corruption prevention. These ministries are Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, Ministry of Agriculture, and Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing," said Suharso at the commemoration of International Anti-Corruption Day (Hakordia) at the KPK Building in Jakarta on Wednesday (16/20).

The Stranas PK is a mandate of Presidential Regulation Number 54 of 2018. Based on this presidential regulation, five state ministries/agencies, namely Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK), Ministry of Home Affairs, Bappenas, Ministry of Administrative and Bureaucratic Reform, and Presidential Chief of Staff formed a Stranas PK National Team. The team later prepared a joint decision to monitor the national strategy implementation.

A total of 87 state ministries/agencies and 542 regional governments have been encouraged to improve three focus areas, namely business permit and trading system, state budget and bureaucratic reform, and law enforcement. The three focus areas are presented in 11 national strategies for corruption prevention.

On the same occasion, the Stranas PK National Team signed a joint decision on Stranas PK for the period 2021-2022. The strategies are still focused on three focus areas, namely business permit and trading system, state budget and bureaucratic reform, and law enforcement.

Head of Bureau of Communication, Public Information Services, and Cooperation of Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, Agung Pribadi, said the success cannot be separated from the ministry's efforts to simplify permits and licenses. "We've simplified various permits and licenses as well as transformed our services from physical business to online," said Agung in Jakarta. (IY)
