The Progress of 35,000 MW Program

JAKARTA - Adequate electricity supply and affordable price will increase investment and economic growth of the people. One of the Government program to materialize it is 35,000 MW Program. It was recorded that up to January 15th, 2018, the 35,000 MW Program has been operated for 1,358 MW of which 466 MW was built by PLN, while the remaining 892 MW was IPP.

"The operating 35,000 MW Program are spreading in several areas such as Sulawesi in total capacity of 538 MW, Sumatra 455 MW, Maluku and Papua 135 MW, Kalimantan 126 MW, while the remaining are spreading in Java, Bali, and Nusa Tenggara areas for 104 MW," explained the Head of Communications, Public Information Services, and Cooperation Bureau, Ministry of EMR, Agung Pribadi in Jakarta, Sunday (1/28).

Agung also stated that 17,096 MW are under construction: 5,657 MW are constructed by PLN and 11,439 MW are IPP.

"17,096 MW or about 48% of 35,000 MW program are under construction. Meanwhile, the other 12.724 MW has been in contract but not yet constructed. So, there are 4,682 MW of the program that are not yet in Power Purchase Agreement. The trend is clear and positive. Approximately 20,000 MW was targeted to operate by 2019," stated Agung.

In addition to 35,000 MW Program, there are also other program coming from Fast Track Program (FTP) stage 1 and 2 as well as Regular Program amounts for 7,800 MW. Agung explained that those three programs for 6,395 MW has been operated.

The contribution of 35,000 MW Program is quite significant for electrification ratio. Up to the end of 2017, the national electrification ratio reach 95.35 %. The number is higher that the target 92.75%. (AK)
