Pertashop Program should be Accelerated in Remote Areas, Says Energy Minister

Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources (EMR), Arifin Tasrif, asked BPH Migas and Pertamina to intensify the establishment of Pertashop in addition to developing One-Price Fuel Retailers.

"The Pertashop program which is being run by Pertamina can reach remote areas. I think this program should be accelerated. With an investment of Rp200,000 per unit, I think Village-Owned Enterprises (BUMD) can respond to this, taking advantage of this opportunity, and establish it in every village," said Arifin after inaugurating seven One-Price Fuel Retailers in Kupang, East Nusa Tenggara on Tuesday (21/12).

Adequate supply of energy is expected to increase mobility, leading to increased economic growth across the country. According to Arifin, energy supply program through Pertashop can be implemented quickly. For this reason, BPH Migas and Pertamina are expected to promote this program in all regions, especially frontier, outermost, and least developed (3T) regions. Besides its ability to reduce fuel shortages, Pertashop can break even for a short period of time because there is a guarantee of price economy from Pertamina.

"Energy functions as the driving force of the economy, so don't let energy become unavailable. We must continue to work and increase our contribution to society," said Arifin.

Director of Logistics and Infrastructure of state energy company PT Pertamina, Mulyono, said the One-Price Fuel program and Pertashop were quite similar in the fact that both provided fuels for people in remote areas. But they sell different products. One-Price Fuel stations sell subsidized fuels, while Pertashop sells non-subsidized fuels including LPG.

"Pertamina teams will go to regional governments. We will ask which areas need Pertashop. Yesterday I met with the Regent of Cilacap, and he immediately asked for 100 Pertashops. Alhamdulillah (praise be to God), Cilacap has the largest number of Pertashops because its regent immediately intervened," said Mulyono.

Mulyono asserted that Pertamina would implement all government's policies on energy access for the public.

"Pertamina promises, and is committed, to carry out all government's programs to the best possible. We are committed to fully support the government and insha Allah (God willing) we are going all out," said Mulyono. (IY)
