Maintain Collaboration and Synergy, Says Energy Minister to the ESDM Siaga Bencana Team for Semeru

Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources (EMR), Arifin Tasrif, paid tribute to all members of the "ESDM Siaga Bencana" team, or disaster preparedness team, for their dedication to support the recovery from Mount Semeru eruption.

"I deeply appreciate your active participation in helping those affected by the eruption of Mount Semeru. Your hard work has yielded significant results and I think in the current situation, if there is still anything to do, please finish it as quickly as possible, as carefully as possible, and the best you can. Take care of your health. Always wear your personal protective equipment, maintain your communication devices and means of transportation in good condition," said Arifin while inspecting the ESDM Siaga Bencana team which has been deployed since December 5, 2021.

Arifin also asked the team to always maintain collaboration and synergy. Communication between team members and with the local communities must also be maintained so that the recovery can be completed more quickly.

"Maintain collaboration. We are on the same team, so we must build synergy. This is the key to success. In workplace, there are always tensions that we must overcome. Maintain communication between team members, and maintain communication with the local communities so that they can recover quickly," said Arifin at the team post which is located at the Lumajang Bamboo Forest, East Java.

On the same occasion, the Director of Mineral and Coal Techniques and Environment, Lana Saria, said that the ESDM Siaga Bencana team was dispatched as soon as Mount Semeru erupted. EMR sector companies responded quickly by assigning Emergency Response Teams (ERT), consisting of rescuers, doctors, paramedics, and logistics personnel.

"As soon as the volcano erupted, emergency response teams that make up the ESDM Siaga Bencana were instructed to join in disaster recovery. Alhamdulillah (praise be to God), many companies responded quickly. There were 38 companies that sent emergency response teams consisting of rescuers, doctors, paramedics, and logistics personnel," said Lana.

As of December 13, 2021, a total of 246 personnel of the ESDM Siaga Bencana are on duty in Lumajang Regency.

"As of December 13, 2021, our team consists of 246 people. Every week, three mine inspectors are assigned to supervise the team. There are 38 team leaders from 38 companies because each company sends a leader. There are also rescuers who work closely with the SAR team to evacuate buried victims. Additionally, we have 21 doctors, 30 paramedics, and 16 logistics personnel," Lana added.

The rescue team of the ESDM Siaga Bencana work with the SAR team to assist in the evacuation of eruption victims. The team is divided into 3 Search and Rescue Units (SRU), namely SRU 1 that is assigned at Curah Kobokan and Kajang Kuning, SRU 2 at the H. Satuhan Sand Mine, and SRU 3 in Kampung Renteng. In addition, the health team of the ESDM Siaga Bencana provides health services and trauma healing for victims at evacuation centers. While on duty, the health team coordinates with the local Health Service Office and community health centers (Puskesmas).

"The health team is divided into teams A, B, and C, led by 3 doctors. The team works in coordination with the local Health Service Office. The team activities include health services, trauma healing including for children, distribution of masks, and periodic antigen swab tests," Lana concluded. (IY)
