ESDM Siaga Bencana Team Dispatched to Semeru
The Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (EMR) has dispatched a rescue team called "ESDM Siaga Bencana" team, or disaster preparedness team, to assist with evacuation and recovery in areas affected by the eruption of Mount Semeru in East Java.
"As directed by the Minister of EMR, the ESDM Siaga Bencana team has been deployed and has moved quickly to perform evacuation and recovery in areas affected by the eruption of Mount Semeru. We will work hand in hand and in coordination with relevant agencies so that the recovery process will run smoothly," said Secretary General of the Ministry of EMR, Ego Syahrial, on Sunday (5/12).
Director of Mineral and Coal Techniques and Environment, Lana Saria, said there were 20 emergency response teams from 19 mining companies and 1 team from the East Java Mining Observer Communication Forum (Forkompeta). These response teams make up the ESDM Siaga Bencana team, and consist of 104 people who will work in three teams, namely 82 people in rescue team, 6 people in logistics team, and 16 people in medical team.
"As of today, 19 companies and the Forkompeta of East Java have dispatched emergency response teams to assist recovery and evacuation in areas affected by the eruption of Mount Semeru," explained Lana.
These teams will support emergency response actions, provide logistical needs, and give medical aid in areas affected by the eruption.
"We have asked companies to help areas affected by the eruption of Mount Semeru, for example by preparing an emergency response team, providing logistical needs for disaster victims, and preparing initial and advanced equipment if the eruption of Mount Semeru escalates," said Lana.
The ESDM Siaga Bencana team also ensures coordination with the Operational Command Post for Disaster Management, the National Disaster Mitigation Agency (BNPB), the Regional Disaster Mitigation Agency (BPBD), and the National SAR Agency. (IY)
