Energy Ministry Wins Corruption-Free Zone Awards 2021

Three work units within the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (EMR) have been conferred Integrity Zone Awards towards Corruption-Free Areas (WBK) in a ceremony titled the Appreciation and Presentation of Integrity Zone Awards towards WBK/WBBM of 2021, organized by the Ministry for State Apparatus Empowerment and Bureaucratic Reform (PAN-RB). The three units are the Directorate of Mineral and Coal Fostering Program, the Directorate of Geothermal Energy, and the Center for Volcanology and Mitigation of Geological Hazards.

In a keynote speech which he delivered virtually, the Vice President of the Republic of Indonesia, K.H. Ma'ruf Amin, requested that the commitment to eradicate corruption does not stop at ceremonial or administrative issues. The road map to bureaucratic reform, unqualified opinion (WTP), integrity pact as well as WBK and WBBM awards must be manifested in an organization's work culture and excellent public services.

"Real efforts must continue to be made by work units of state ministries/agencies and regional governments so that the public can enjoy a variety of public services that are faster, easier, cheaper, and inclusive. This moment is a good opportunity for introspection for all stakeholders to continue to improve the quality of their character and organization," said Ma'ruf on Monday (20/12).

On the same occasion, the Minister of PAN-RB, Tjahjo Kumolo, said that bureaucratic reform was a catalyst to realize good and clean governance that supported national development.

"The catalyst for good and clean governance is a clean and accountable bureaucracy, a capable bureaucracy, and excellent public services. President Joko Widodo asked that licensing be made fast, public services delivered fast, and bureaucracy shortened; bureaucracy must be cut," continued Tjahjo.

The Secretary General of the Ministry of EMR, Ego Syahrial, gave his appreciation to the work units that won the awards and hoped that they would maintain the achievements in the future.

"Congratulations to three work units who won the Integrity Zone Awards towards WBK. This is clear evidence that bureaucratic reform is going well. Moreover, I hope such achievement can motivate other work units in the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources to reach for the award," said Ego.

The development of the Integrity Zone towards WBK/WBBM is an integral part of the implementation of bureaucratic reform within the Ministry of EMR. Therefore, the Ministry of EMR has continued to innovate and implement improvement programs so as to improve public services that are corruption-free.

"The Ministry of EMR is constantly adapting to the development of public services in the digital era. For this reason, clean, fast, and corruption-free public services must become a culture. In this condition of the Covid-19 pandemic, a digital system aims to minimize meetings between government employees and the public. We'll continue to improve the competencies of government employees so that they can provide excellent services," explained Ego. (IY)
