Minister of EMR Launches SPBKLU Operations

Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources (EMR) Arifin Tasrif officially launched the Operations of SPBKLU (Battery Swap Stations for Electric Vehicles) in a virtual event. The launch was carried out at three locations, namely PLN's UP3 Cikokol office in Tangerang by Grab Indonesia and Kymco, Alfamart Gandaria 3 on Jalan Jatayu in Kebayoran Baru, South Jakarta by Oyika, and the office of Directorate General of Electricity in Kuningan, South Jakarta by Ezyfazt and Oyika.

Arifin said at the launch that he hoped SPBKLU could be a solution to speedy formation of battery electric vehicle ecosystems. Arifin also explained that recharging of electric vehicle batteries would be done more quickly at SPBKLU.

"At this moment of the 75th anniversary of National Electricity Day, Ministry of EMR has also launched SPBKLU operations. It is hoped that SPBKLU can be one of the solutions to speedy formation of battery electric vehicle ecosystems. At SPBKLU, battery recharging can be done more quickly because of technological support," said Arifin on Tuesday (3/11).

Arifin also hoped that the SPBKLU mechanism could be developed fully according to the roadmap. "We hope that the SPBKLU mechanism can be developed fully according to planned roadmap, so that it can provide benefits to the wider community." Director General of Electricity of Ministry of EMR, Rida Mulyana, said that there are currently nine SPBKLUs, with six SPBKLU located in South Jakarta, one SPBKLU in Tangerang City, and two in South Tangerang City.

"According to the SPBKLU roadmap, it is targeted that 10,000 SPBKLU will be available by 2025 and an additional 15,625 SPBKLU will be built by 2030," said Rida.

Rida said the SPBKLU operations had been a commitment of Ministry of EMR to support the Acceleration Program of Battery Electric Vehicle for Road Transportation, in accordance with Presidential Regulation No. 55 of 2019.

To carry out one the provision of the Presidential Decree, Ministry of EMR issued Regulation of Minister of EMR Number 13 of 2020 on Provision of Recharging Infrastructure for Battery Electric Vehicles. SPBKLU is a provision set out in the ministerial regulation. (IY)
