In cooperation with the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, the Danish Embassy has taken initiative to invite 7 (seven) Danish companies with state-of-the-art knowledge on energy efficiency and energy management to meet with more than 100 Indonesian invitees from both the private and public sector at the Indonesian-Danish Sustainable Energy Seminar 2010, taking place at Le Meridien Hotel, April 13th, 2010.Sustainable energy can bee seen as a part of the solution to the increasing unbalance between supply and demand of energy in Indonesia. Denmark has 30 years of experience of saving energy through efficiency measures and to build up an energy supply based on a much diversified energy mix. In the last 30 years period, Denmark has actually managed to keep the energy consumption constant while the BNP has risen with 40%.Meeting the energy demands from a growing economy and at the same time fighting climate changes is the huge challenge Indonesia is facing in the coming years and this is increasing the actuality of the seminar. The Seminar on Sustainable Energy and Energy Efficiency is the second of its kind in the cooperation between Indonesia and Denmark within the Energy sector. The first Indonesian-Danish Energy event was held in December 2008 in connection with the official launching of the 5-year cooperation between the countries on "Energy Efficiency in the Industrial, Commercial and Public Sector", where the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources is responsible for the implementation and Denmark is providing financial support. Since last year, the Embassy of Denmark has also started a program that assists Indonesian and Danish companies that are exploring the potential of long-term business partnerships, in the area of Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency. The so-called B2B Environment Programme provides grants to facilitate knowledge transfer from Denmark to Indonesia within these sectors. The opening speech will be held by the Danish Ambassador Borge Petersen and key-note speaker will be Dr. Jack Purwono from the Directorate General of Electricity and Energy Usage, Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources. The seminar will also have more than 100 business-to-business meetings arranged between the Danish companies and their potential future Indonesian counterparts. |
