Halalbihalal of the Energy Sector Family, Energy Minister Recaps the Spirit of Ramadan

At the 1442 Hijriya Halalbihalal (a tradition to ask for forgiveness among colleagues after the Idulfitri holidays) of Indonesian Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (EMR), Minister of EMR Arifin Tasrif called on everyone within the sector to maintain the spirit of Ramadan in carrying out their daily duties.

"After fasting for a full month and carrying out both the obligatory and the sunnah (non-obligatory) practices, now is the time to prove these practices have a positive impact on our faith and on our work routines," said Arifin during his remarks in the event which was held virtually on Wednesday (19/5).

Arifin added that he was grateful for the faith given by Allah the Almighty so that he could carry out his daily activities responsibly and adhere to the principles of working fast, fastidiously, and productively (the Cecep principles).

"Undoubtedly, we hope to be able to meet again in Ramadan next year, away from the threat of the Covid-19 pandemic, and the conditions of our country and the world will have returned to normal," he concluded.

On the same occasion, Prof. Dr. Muhammad Quraish Shihab said in his tausyiah (short, religious preaching) that the spirit of Ramadan contains an attempt to follow God's characters. "In the Ramadan spirit, there is an attempt to follow the characters of God the Most Holy, which is a combination of three things, namely factual, good, and beautiful," he explained.

Doing the factual will produce knowledge and technology, doing good will generate faith and integrity, while doing things beautifully will produce art. "These three qualities are the essence of Eid, which means returning to the origin. Therefore, a person who celebrates Idulfitri is a scientist, a wise man, and an artist," said Quraish Shihab.

To carry out work routines according to the essence of Idulfitri and the spirit of Ramadan, Quraish stated that there are four forces that we need to improve on, namely physical power, qolbu (the heart) power, brain power, and life power. "We have honed these powers during the Ramadan month. When the spirit of Ramadan is born, these powers have united," he added.

The Halalbihalal event was attended by all employees of the Ministry of EMR who work in big cities such as Jakarta and Bandung, as well as those assigned in areas far from the capital city, such as the volcano observers in Aceh province and the mine inspectors in Southeast Sulawesi province. (IY)
