Energy Minister Inspects Fuel Terminal ahead of New Year's Holidays

Nearing the end of 2020, Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources (EMR) Arifin Tasrif inspected Tanjung Gerem Fuel Terminal (TBBM) which belongs to state energy company PT Pertamina (Persero) in Cilegon, Banten Province.

"I want to make sure that Pertamina is ready to supply fuels and energy to the public during Christmas and New Year holidays," said Arifin on Wednesday (30/12).

Arifin appreciated the efforts Pertamina has made to supply fuels to the public, including digitalization of Public Fuel Stations (SPBU). The digitalization can give early information in case of supply shortages at fuel stations.

"I appreciate the efforts made by PT Pertamina to supply fuels during Christmas and New Year holidays. Digitalization made to approximately 5,800 fuel stations of Pertamina has improved our efficiency and reduced hassle by giving early information in case of supply shortages," said Arifin.

Arifin requested Pertamina to modernize its other businesses, not just its retail, to improve the company's efficiency and lift its competitiveness.

Arifin also requested Pertamina's employees who work at remote areas to work hard while obeying health protocol.

"The Covid-19 pandemic has lately been worsening in various regions in Indonesia. I'd like to ask all employees to obey the health protocol. May God guide and protect you in carrying out your duties. Please maintain and improve your performance so that Pertamina's duties can be carried out well," Arifin concluded.

Meanwhile, President Director of PT Pertamina (Persero) Nicke Widyawati explained that Tanjung Gerem Fuel Terminal supplies fuels to the western regions of Java Island. The Minister's presence will certainly encourage the Pertamina teams carrying out the duty of securing fuel supplies during Christmas and new year holidays.

"Despite the Covid-19 pandemic, our facilities, infrastructure, and teams are operational exactly like in previous years. Although our sales transactions have decreased, we remain ready to serve," Nicke explained.

After inspecting the terminal, Minister of EMR continued the visit to coal-fired power plant (PLTU) Suralaya to ensure sufficient electricity supplies ahead of the new year. (IY)
