Command Post Ended, Electricity during Idulfitri Holidays Safe

The National Electricity Command Post Team for Idulfitri 1442 Hijriya was officially ended on Friday (21/5). In general, the electricity conditions in the period of Idulfitri 1442 H/the year 2021 holidays were safe. The Command Post reported a number of incidents that caused blackouts in several areas, but these incidents had been handled well.

"Even though conditions were safe, there are still local blackouts caused by floods and fires, especially in Java, Sumatra and Kalimantan islands," said Secretary of Directorate General of Electricity, Munir Ahmad, on Monday (24/5).

Munir said that on D-day Idulfitri on Thursday (13/5), the Supply Capacity by PLN was recorded at 43,647.49 MW, Peak Load 31,004.77 MW, and Reserve Capacity 12,642.73 MW or 40.78%. For Non-PLN Business Areas, the Supply Capacity on May 13 2021 was recorded at 2,081.56 MW, Peak Load 795.49 MW, and Reserve Capacity 1,286.07 MW or 161.67%.

On D+1 Idulfitri or Friday (14/5), the Supply Capacity of PLN was 44,262 MW, Peak Load 28,752.40 MW, and Reserve Capacity 15,509.60 MW or 53.94%. For Non-PLN areas, Supply Capacity was 2,117.71 MW, Peak Load of 690.88 MW, and Reserve Capacity 1,426.83 MW or 206.52%.

The Idulfitri Command Post also reported that on D-1 Idulfitri or Wednesday (12/5), a blackout occurred in parts of Cibitung, Tambun, and Cikarang in West Java because Cikarang Substation was on fire. After three hours of repair, the electricity supply was back to normal.

"We'd like to appreciate PLN for ensuring the readiness and reliability of electricity systems, which includes generation units and the transmission and distribution networks, during the work period of the Command Post," said Munir.

Munir went on to appreciate the officers of PT PLN (Persero) for being ready to secure electricity supply to the public and other vital objects. For example, on D+2 Idulfitri holiday or Saturday (15/5), floods in Simalungun Regency and earthquakes in West Nias, both in North Sumatra, caused disruption to the local electricity system. On the same day, recovery was carried out and the system had returned to normal. Although the work period of the Idulfitri Command Post has ended, PLN is expected to remain alert to secure electricity supply so that people can carry out activities smoothly. (IY)
