Certification Agencies Performance Reflects That of Energy Ministry, Says DG Electricity

The public see the performance of electricity certification agencies as a reflection of the performance of the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, especially Directorate General of Electricity, said Director General of Electricity, Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (EMR), Rida Mulyana. Rida made the statement at the Performance Evaluation Awards Ceremony for electricity certification agencies of evaluation period 2019-2020 in Jakarta on Wednesday (23/12).

Because these institutions have been appointed or accredited by Minister of EMR, Rida continued, electricity certification agencies are an extension of the Indonesian Government. These agencies meet face to face with the public for certification in the electricity subsector.

Rida went on to say that certification agencies play an important role in fulfilling Electricity Safety (K2). The reason is that the certificates issued by these agencies such as certificates of operation worthiness, competency, and business entity, show that certain installation and personal or business entity capacity have met the regulations.

The awards ceremony is expected to serve as a reminder for every certification agency to continuously meet the provisions of laws and regulations in carrying out electricity certification processes.

"We have an interest in ensuring the performance of certification agencies in servicing the public, and electricity safety is no exception. Therefore, we took the inisiative to carry out monitoring and evaluation as usual, but then we re-brand these activities in an awards ceremony like this. We hope you can benchmark your agency against others, and push yourself to improve your performance. The awards also serve as a barometer, an indicator, to anyone considering to use your agencies' services," continued Rida.

On this occasion, Rida presented thirty appreciation awards. Ten certification agencies received Gold awards (very good performance) and twenty agencies Green awards (good performance). Assessment for the awards had been made for semester 2 of 2019 until semester 1 of 2020.

The Gold awards had been given to four installation inspection and six competency certification agencies, as follows:

Electricity Installation Inspection:

1. PT Andalan Mutu Energi
2. PT PLN (Persero) Pusat Sertifikasi
3. PT Biro Klasifikasi Indonesia (Persero)
4. PT Layanan Mutu Ketenagalistrikan

Electrical Engineer Competency Certification:

1. PT ELESKA IATKI
2. PT Lisan Nusantara Satu
3. PPSDM KEBTKE Kementerian ESDM
4. PT PLN (Persero) Pusat Pendidikan dan Pelatihan Unit Sertifikasi
5. PT ELESKA Hakit
6. PT Sertifikasi Kompetensi Pembangkitan Tenaga Listrik.

For the record, the Gold awards are given to agencies which score 9.01-10.00 in the evaluation, while the Green awards are presented to those scoring 8.01-9.00. Criteria for performance assessment include compliance with regulation (55%), service quality (30%), innovation (10%), and public contribution program (5%).

"Congratulations to all certification agencies that have received Gold and Green awards. Thank you for continuously meeting the applicable laws and regulations, maintaining your service level, making innovations, and contributing to the public," Rida concluded. (IY)
