Certificate of Merit Awarded to 27 Electricity Certifying Agencies

The Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (EMR) through its Directorate General of Electricity gave certificates of merit to 27 Electricity Certifying Agencies (LSK) that did excellently in the period of semester 2 of 2020 to semester 1 of 2021. The awarding ceremony was held on Tuesday (14/12).

There are 8 LSK that received a Gold title (excellent), while 19 LSK got a Green title (good).

The Secretary of the Directorate General of Electricity, Munir Ahmad, expressed the ministry's appreciation to the LSK because they act as an extension of the government's arms in providing services to the community.

"Electricity certifying agencies as organizations that get a business permit or accreditation from the Minister of EMR are an extension of the government's arms. They meet face to face with the public to carry out certification in the electricity subsector," said Munir.

Munir also applauded the LKS' efforts to comply with all applicable laws and regulations, maintain service quality level, and develop innovations to contribute to society.

According to Munir, LSK plays a very important role in fulfilling Electricity Safety (K2) requirement. If certifying agencies work professionally in carrying out certification, a certificate issued by these agencies can guarantee that the electricity safety requirement has been met.

"We hope that this assessment of electricity certifying agency's performance, which is carried out annually, can serve as a reminder for certifying agencies to always comply with the provisions of laws and regulations in carrying out electricity certification," said Munir.

In the 2020-2021 period, assessment was carried out on 86 certifying agencies, consisting of 44 Electrical Engineering Inspection Agencies, 10 Low-Voltage Engineering Inspection Agencies, 24 Electrical Engineer Competency Certification Agencies, and 8 Business Entity Certification Agencies.

Meanwhile, 4 agencies did poorly and were given a Red certificate, and 4 agencies were classified substandard that they got a Black certificate.

According to Wanhar, certifying agents with excellent (Gold) and good (Green) performance are presented with a certificate of merit from the Directorate General of Electricity. On the contrary, those with poor (Red) and very poor (Black) performance are imposed a temporary suspension and required to improve their work in accordance with the findings of the assessment.
