Be Ethical and Have Good Morals, Says Energy Minister to Candidate Civil Servants

"Be an ethical civil servant and have good morals," Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources (EMR) Arifin Tasrif had said when welcoming 50 candidate civil servants (CPNS) of Ministry of EMR on Monday (4/1).

"Apply our organization values, namely Honesty, Professionalism, Innovation, Providing Excellent Service, and Meaningfulness. Hold onto integrity, create solid team work, and perform your duties Quickly, Accurately, and Productively," said Arifin.

The huge challenge that we face today and in the future, continued Arifin, is how millenials participate in government programs, especially in response to the Covid-19 pandemic. CPNS are an important element in the organization when they actively support economic recovery programs of the EMR sector.

"In addition, the CPNS of Ministry of EMR must be able to quickly support the ministry's strategic programs such as increasing the oil and gas production and the mineral added value, accelerating downstream coal processing, promoting the use of new, renewable energy, developing energy infrastructure, and other programs that support good governance to realize bureaucratic reforms of Ministry of EMR," Arifin emphasized.

Arifin also expressed his appreciation to CPNS filling the formation of volcano observatory staff who joined the event virtually from their observatories in Western and Eastern Indonesia.

"Please stay healthy. You are the frontliners of Ministry of EMR in monitoring the volcanoes across Indonesia. You have to perform this duty wholeheartedly," continued Arifin.

Meanwhile, Secretary General of Ministry of EMR Ego Syahrial who was also Chief of CPNS Selection Committee said that the 50 CPNS had gone through a very tight selection process. The selection had been done objectively, competitively, transparently, free from Corruption, Collusion, and Nepotism (KKN), and free of charge.

"These 50 CPNS had defeated 4,950 applicants at the initial stage. They had gone through several stages carried out online, for example Computer Assisted Test (CAT) by the BKN (Indonesian national civil service agency), psychological test, and virtual interview," said Ego.

For the record, all formations in the 2019 civil servant recruitment have been filled. The CPNS will take up posts such as analysts at different directorates general and agencies, volcano observatory staff, and support staff in the fields of law, personnel, state asset management, information technology, planning, and finance. They will be placed at 11 echelon-1 units within the Ministry of EMR.

All CPNS start to work actively from January 4, 2021. They will be assisted by mentors and coaches during the first year of service. (IY)
