Akamigas Students Won Third Place in Oil Rig Design Competition in Malaysia

The Gardapati Vyatra team of PEM Akamigas won the third place in the Oil Rig Design category of Society of Petroleum Engineers-Universiti Teknologi Malaysia Student Chapter (SPE-UTM SC) Intellectual Day 2021 (SID 2021) organized by Universiti Teknologi Malaysia. SID 2021 held several categories, such as T-Navigator, Oil Rig Design, and Petrobrain. The competition was attended by various universities in Indonesia and Malaysia.

"Yesterday afternoon (22/5) I received news that the Gardapati Vyatra team of PEM Akamigas won the third place in the Oil Rig Design category in Malaysia. Hopefully, the team will be more succesful in the future, and continue to make achievements at the national and international levels," said Head of Bureau of Communication, Public Information Services, and Cooperation of Indonesian Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, Agung Pribadi, in Jakarta (23/5).

Deputy Director III of PEM Akamigas concurently the supervisor of the Gardapati Vyatra team, Bambang Yudho, said that the team was solid, as evidenced by their success in winning several championships and receiving scholarships in the 2020/2021 Academic Year.

Meanwhile, Eryko Despriady, who handled the calculator role in the Gardapati Vyatra team, said he was proud and happy with his team's success. "The deadline for project works was May 5, 2021, so we had made preparations beforehand. I am very happy and grateful, that despite the pandemic, we could still win the third place and participate in the competition in between our study. The first place was won by the Albatros Team (University of Indonesia), and the second place by the SURD 21 Team (University of Technology Malaysia)," said Eryko on behalf of his friends.

The Gardapati Vyatra team consists of five students from the Oil and Gas Production Engineering Study Program of PEM Akamigas, a state polytechnic managed by the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources. Located in Cepu, Central Java, PEM Akamigas offers Diploma I, II, III and IV programs in petroleum, natural gas, and geothermal study fields. (IY)
